Family Day

Family Day is always a mixture of emotions for students, friends, and family alike. Pride, relief, and even disbelief are just a few of the emotions experienced as loved ones assemble to greet the students. As a matter of fact, friends and family often arrive on Family Day to find that the person they've come to pick up is now somehow different from the one they dropped off.  It's no wonder because their child, relative, or friend has become a WLGOS cadet!  For some, the change may be small...walking a little taller, or speaking in a more commanding voice, but for others the change is more pronounced.  Cadets often lose a lackadaisical attitude, gain muscle, or even a healthy new respect for classroom instruction. In whatever measure, make no mistake about it, change is always radical. Therefore, we like you, applaud the changes your loved one has made in his or her short time at WLGOS. So, as you scan the crowd and delightfully acknowledge, "there he is"..."she's right there in the third row'..."wow, they march so well"...take pride because it has been a collective effort in which we(you, the cadet, teachers, staff, administrators, and others ) have all played a part. Enjoy this short break and take some time to catch up, because when the cadets return there will be no time to waste as testing will be soon upon us!
