The Military Ball

The JROTC Military Ball was a held Friday, January 15th at Wil Lou Gray. Family, dates and friends joined cadets on campus for a wonderful meal, crowning of the king and Queen, and dancing.

Before the Ball began, the preparation was in full swing. Cadets and the Maintenance Department were busy preparing the Gymnasium... everything from covering the floor to setting up tables and chairs. Next the tables were covered and decorated. The Dining hall staff and cadets were busy setting up and decorating buffet tables, bringing food from the dining hall, and more.

Cadre in the female dorm were busy assisting cadets in getting more beautiful, and cadre in the male dorm were busy making sure the male cadets looked sharp. It was a busy morning. Family and friends began to arrive and reunited with each other.

The ceremony opened with the presentation of the colors, reciting of the Cadet Creed (led by C/CPL Nesbitt) which was followed by the invocation by C/SSG Mason. Cadets proposed toasts and everyone lifted their glasses. C/CPT Sweet welcomed everyone. Mr. Pat Smith, Director of WLGOS, greeted everyone and acknowledged special guests.

We visited the buffet line and took our seats, enoying conversation and good food. Soon, C/SGM Carter called our attentiion and gave a reflective speech about cadets time here, their journey thus far, and optimism for everyone future. Making good choices and and using the positive lessons learned while at Wil Lou Gray can keep cadets on positive paths.

Sgt. Major Miller recognized the efforts of the many departments, cadets and other staff in making this event a success. The crowning of the King... Cadet James Carson,  and Queen... Cadet Sophia Dick,  followed.

C/SSG Mason led the benediction and then there was DANCING.

We thank all of those who helped to make this a wonderful event. Special appreciation to Sgt. Major Miller and 1st. Sgt. Hugee.
